Ceol an Gheimhridh Results 2024

Comhairle na Mumhan CCÉ wish to extend a huge thank you to all who helped out at the Ceol an Gheimhridh Munster finals in Tralee and Cashel in February 2024. It was a very successful weekend of competitions and once again showcased the very high standards of music, singing, dancing and storytelling in Munster

 

Well Done to all the competitors who took part in the competitions and did their families, branches and counties proud. A special congratulations to all the prizewinners.

Ceol an Gheimridh 2023/24
County Finals

Junior members of Comhaltas currently aged Under 14 are invited to consider entering this year's Ceol an Gheimhridh competitions which takes place in the province from November 2023-January 2024 The age groups are Under 11 and 11/14 as of Jan 1st 2023. Note you must be a fully paid up member of Comhaltas for the 2023/2024 branch year to enter

Competitions are:

  • Reed (Button Accordion, Piano Accordion, Concertina, Pipes)

  • Wind (Whistle and Flute)

  • Strings (Fiddle, Banjo, Mandolin, Harp)

  • Polka & Slide (Any instrument) - NEW COMPETITION FOR 2023/24

  • Duets (2 melodic instruments)

  • Quartettes (4 melodic instruments)

  • English Singing

  • Irish Singing

  • Recitation of a Poem

  • Storytelling

  • Céilí Dancing (4 Hand/8 Hand Ladies & Mixed)

  • Set Dancing

  • Mixed Polka Sets

  • Céilí Band (2 musicians U17 allowed)

No entry fee - you only pay admission charge at the door on the day

 

CHANGE IN ELIGIBILITY FOR CEOL AN GHEIMHRIDH 2023/24

Please note: solo qualifiers to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 from Fleadh na Mumhan 2023 are ineligible to compete in this years Ceol an Gheimhridh on the solo category in which they competed in Fleadh na hÉireann. (e.g a competitor who qualified from Fleadh na Mumhan on fiddle or fiddle slow airs is ineligible to enter the strings competition in Ceol an Gheimhridh 2023/24 etc). This applies to solo competitors in Strings, Wind, Reed, Singing, Amhránaíócht, Storytelling and Scéalaíocht only.
