•Congratulations to Martin Power who was this year’s recipient of the Ard-Ollamh award at Fleadh na hEireann in recognition of his work on the TTCT course over the years. Congratulations also Deirdre Scanlon who received a Bardic Award.
•Congratulations to the new Head Office appointees from Munster: Siobhan Ní Chonoráin (Príomhriarthóír), Micheal O Riabhaigh (Príomhreachtaire), Sara Ni Chonmara (Riarthóir).
•Foram na Físe being held in Cultúrlann from November 23-25. Each provincial council must nominate four young people aged 18-30 to attend this course. Standing committee will hold a draw to select the four names if more than four names come back from counties.
•Macalla na hEireann Concert Tour is visiting Kilcummin, Templeglantine, Cashel and Ennis this year. Congratulations to the Munster performers who have been selected for this year’s tour: Nora Butler, Ciara Horan, Leona Bowe (Tipperary), Maura O Connor (Limerick), Aoife Trench (Kerry), Thomas Ahern (Waterford) and Tour Manager Eddie Murphy.
•The Drogheda Fleadh committee are looking for feedback. Any comments from counties should be sent to Ard Chomhairle
•Coiste Rince – query re Cavan Reel Half Set. Following debate and research it is deemed that the Cavan Reel Half set is not acceptable. A list of permitted half sets will be published in Treoir. Any newly composed sets will have to be submitted to Coiste Rince for approval.
•Singing seminar for counties in Meitheal na hAbhna – info has been sent to Co. Secretaries.
The Eolas document in AGM Pack should be carefully read and studied by each unit as it contains important guidance which must be noted by units. There is a new standardised Membership application form which members have to sign covering data protection/photography opt-ins. Choice between new online membership and the old paper system for the coming year.
Eoin O Carra has requested counties to encourage their branches to use the online membership system. Branches should appoint a membership registrar who is computer literate if the secretary hasn’t the IT skills necessary to use the system.
